AFC Challenge Cup 2012: Tajikistan Loses Second Friendly Match In Turkey Trip



The Indian National FootballTeam has reached Muscat for an InternationalFriendly against Omanwhich is scheduled to be played on February 23. 
The 30-member squads havebeen camping in Dubaias part of their preparation for the forthcoming AFC Challenge Cup sinceFebruary 16.

National Coach Savio Medeira, feels the Friendly would help India gear upfor the coveted tournament in a major way. “The match against Oman forms anintegral part of our preparation for the forthcoming AFC Challenge Cup. Thisapart, we have another International Friendly lined up against Azerbaijan onFebruary 27.”


“Both the matches would help us gauge our progress,” he added.

Oman are presently ranked 95in the FIFA ladder while Indiaare at 154.

Before arriving in Muscat, the team went throughvarious training sessions in Dubai,under the watchful eyes of head Coach Savio Medeira and Physical Trainer PradipDutta.

Medeira sounded pleased when asked about the practice facilities in Dubai. “The team wentthrough rigorous exercises and stay in good shape. They have responded well,”he informed. “We have a tough task ahead. This is a young bunch and many wouldbe playing their first International Match. We need to stay focused.”

India are pitted with Phillipines, Tajikistan and DPR Korea in group Bof AFC Challenge Cup 2012.
